The vision of the Verde NRCD is to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the district through science and tradition-based management of natural resources. In addition to ensuring equity among shared interests, respecting diverse cultural values and preserving environmental health of our land, the Verde NRCD is dedicated to promoting appropriate economic growth and financial security of present and future generations.
The Verde Natural Resource Conservation District (NRCD) was organized in December, 1941 and has taken a leading role in helping local Verde Valley landowners and managers make more productive use of their soil and water resources.
The NRCD helps direct technical assistance from the US Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to private property owners according to ARS 37-1000 federal laws. Landowners become cooperators of the NRCD in order to qualify for NRCS staff support and technical assistance.
NRCD projects are decided by an Annual Plan of Work. The group also prepares a ten year Long Range Plan and operates a Conservation Education Center.
The district is guided by a board of elected supervisors.
